Getting ready for the British Open in 2018
The Open Championship, the world’s oldest and most prestigious professional golf tournament, returns to Carnoustie in July 2018.
Around 170,000 golf fans from all over the world are expected to descend on Carnoustie with an economic impact to Scotland of around £140m.
Images of Carnoustie and Scotland will be beamed across the globe, giving media coverage that money could hardly buy.
Carnoustie Golf Hotel enjoys and enviable location immediately behind the 1st Tee and 18th Green, positioning it centre stage as the drama unfolds.
An event like this is a long time in the planning, and over the last two years here at Carnoustie Golf Hotel we have been undergoing a refurbishment program which is due to complete at Easter 2018.
The refurbishment covers every area of our business and will ensure the property is looking it’s best and ready to welcome the world’s best golfers.
During the Open looking after our visitors presents exciting challenges for our teams, with over 6000 breakfasts being prepared and served during the week, and more than 13500 meals being prepared and served in total.
Add over 12000 drinks being poured and almost 700 bedroom services for housekeeping and there is little time left for watching the golf!
Carnoustie has had many famous Champions over the years with Golfing greats like Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Tom Watson all Open winners on the Angus Links.
Golf fans around the world remember the drama of Scotland’s Paul Lawrie winning a play off in 1999, and the unfortunate Jean Van de Velde paddle the same year.
The suites in Carnoustie Golf Hotel are all named after previous Champions, time will tell who the next suite will be named after?
Everyone at Carnoustie Golf Hotel is hoping for drama and excitement in 2018, but preferably confined to the famous Championship Links!
