DAVAA Christmas Lunch at Dundee & Angus College
We made an early start with the festivities as we sat down to relax and enjoy freshly prepared seasonal dishes cooked and service by HNC Hospitality students. Our venue was the training restaurant at the Kingsway Campus, which serves as a classroom that provides a realistic working environment for learners to develop a range of necessary skills and gain valuable hands-on experience in preparation for employment.
The students have just started at end of August and the lunch gives them the opportunity to cater for and meet our members and their potential future employers.
Our DAVAA Chairman Mike Metcalfe, from the Doubletree Hilton, said “this is the third year the College and DAVAA have hosted the lunch and it’s a partnership we are keen to continue. Dundee and Angus needs to keep encouraging collaboration and supporting emerging local talent to keep pace with the continued need for well staffed restaurants, cafes and bars.”
Kichelle Williams Robinson, Head of Curriculum and Quality for Hospitality and Professional Cookery said “the hospitality industry is very important to the local economy, it is dynamic and vibrant with fantastic employment and career advancement opportunities and we are committed to supporting our students on their journey as well as employers in order to meet needs of the industry”.
Our members were delighted by the quality of catering on display and enjoyed the lunch immensely.
