DAVAA ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the DCA
The Dundee Contemporary Arts has become a base for the visual arts in the cultural hub of Dundee’s Perth road. Located close to the Dundee Rep and Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, the DCA houses two contemporary art galleries, a two-screen cinema, a print studio, a visual research centre and a café bar.
With 300,000 visitors coming through its doors every year, the DCA is an asset to the area as the focus of Dundee towards cultural tourism grows. With this in mind our members were treated to wonderful afternoon tour of the facilities, including the exhibition by Clare Woods – Victim of Geography.
The afternoon included tea, coffee, some nibbles, and a welcome from the Director, Beth Bate in the meeting room, followed by a full tour of the building, including the galleries, activity room, Print Studio and a sneak peak into the cinema projection booths (while the cinemas had films on). Then we went back to the meeting room for more refreshments and some good old fashioned networking. DCA’s Head of Communications, Jess Reid, and Beth then answered any questions we had about the DCA.
All in all it was a thoroughly enjoyable visit and our members will definitely be recommending the DCA to our guests in the future.
This event was free to our members.
