Can you help Dundee achieve ‘Worldhost’ status?

,

With Dundee’s ongoing regeneration beginning to take shape and the City poised to reap the benefit of an increase in tourist numbers, Dundee is positioning itself as a new leisure destination and working closely with the tourism industry and partners to ensure it is a destination of choice within Scotland and the UK as ‘the best small city for a cultural break.
The £1billion transformation of the award winning Dundee Waterfront is the 3rd largest regeneration project in the UK and spans 240 hectares of land stretching 8km along the River Tay. The centrepiece of the development, V&A Museum of Design Dundee, is due to open next summer and will be the only design museum in the UK outside London. It is expected to attract visitor numbers in excess of 360,000 annually.

With this increase in visitor numbers to Dundee & Angus, many experiencing the area for the first time, there brings an added importance in delivering great customer service.
With this in mind, the city is working towards becoming a WorldHost Destination.

WorldHostTM Destination* status allows businesses in the hospitality, passenger transport, retail, travel and tourism industries to work together, using a suite of world class customer service training programmes, to improve the overall quality of the visitor experience across the de ned destination area and set a new bench mark for customer excellence.

This collaborative approach not only benefits our individual business, but helps to strengthen the quality of the tourism sector across the region. It’s a great way to attract new visitors to the region and puts Dundee and the surrounding area on the map as a world-class tourist destination – delivering a real boost to the local economy.

There are over 60 local businesses taking part including DAVAA members Westpark Conference and Events Centre and Redwood Leisure. To achieve Worldhost status more businesses need to take part and DAVAA would like to encourage Dundee based businesses to get involved.
